If you have gone through the first 6 books, you should now have a great deal of mastery of your major scales, modes, pentatonics, and arpeggios. As with all of these systems, System 7 will push you into some brand new territory, tackling new arpeggios, scales, and pentatonics. Your harmonic language will begin to expand, and hopefully, your musical vocabulary will as well.
In System 7, we will begin a journey into 7th chords. You will learn all the 7th chords arpeggios across the neck. We will also practice the Dominant Pentatonic scale, a very useful scale, especially in playing the blues. And we will delve into the Major and Minor hexatonic scales. The Hexatonic scale is probably the most musically useful scale for improvising in popular music. By the end of this book, your harmonic sophistication will greatly increase.
