Minor Hexatonic Scale

Like the Major Hexatonic, the Minor Hexatonic scale is an extremely useful six-note scale, particularly over minor progressions, of course!

It consists of the tones R,M2,m3,P4,P5,m7 (for C, it would be C,D,Eb,F,G,Bb). This is a scale you’ve heard used commonly in soloing from players like Carlos Santana and Eric Johnson, to countless others. The Minor Hexatonic scale can be seen as the Minor Pentatonic scale, but adding the 9th to become hexatonic.

Good luck with this system! Hopefully it’ll be fun for you to practice some new scales with new sounds, and hopefully you’ll learn how to apply these exercises to real-world playing.
